A dream of the Old Student
The first day of lectures on campus, professor introduced himself and challenged us to get acquainted with someone who is not yet known to us. I stand up and look around when a gentle hand touched my shoulder.
I looked around and found a little old lady, and wrinkled, with a face that looked radiant and with a bright smile. He said, "Hello son saucy, My name is Rose. I'm eighty-seven, Will you hug me?"
I laughed and enthusiastically welcomed him, "Of course it should!".
He also gave me a hug that very closely, "Why are you in college at such a young age and innocent like this?" I asked jest.
She jokingly replied, "I am here to find a rich husband, get married, have some kids, then retire and travel."
"No seriously?" ask me. I really wanted to know what had motivated him to take on this challenge at her age. "I always dreamed to get a college education and now I'm take it!" he said.
After class we walked to the student union building and shared a chocolate milkshake. We immediately familiar. Within three months later, every day we go home together and chatted endlessly. I was always mesmerized listening to sharing experiences and wisdom. After the year, Rose became a campus icon and she easily be friends with anyone. She loves to dress up and immediately get the attention of other students. He's good at liven.
At the end of the semester we invited Rose to speak at a dinner show our football club. I will never forget what he taught us. She was introduced and took the podium. Once he began to deliver a speech that he had prepared, three of the five cards of his speech fell to the floor. Frustrated and a little embarrassed she joked on the microphone. Lightly he said, "I'm sorry, I was very nervous. I have not drink beer. But this whiskey is killing me. I do not get my speech back, so let me tell you what I know."
Then he continued, "We should not stop playing because we grow old, we grow old because we stop playing. There are only four secrets to staying young, still find humor every day. You have to have a dream. When you lose your dreams, you die . There are a lot of people walking around us were dead, but they do not realize it. Indeed, the difference between growing older and growing up. If you are nineteen years old and lie in bed for one full year, do not do anything, you still will be changed to twenty years. When I was eighty-seven years old and stay in bed for a year and never do anything, I will turn eighty-eight. Everyone gets old. It does not require a skill or talent . However, in contrast to mature. Grow up with are always looking for an opportunity in change. Do not ever regret it. Old people like we normally do not regret what he has done, but rather regret what we did not do. People who fear death are those with regrets. "
She concluded her speech by singing "The Rose". She challenged each of us to study the lyrics and live them out in our daily lives.
Finally Rose finished the college degree she had begun a few years ago. One week after graduation Rose died peacefully. Over two thousand college students attended her funeral in tribute to the wonderful woman who taught by example, that no one is late for whatever you can do. Remember, growing old is a necessity, but being an adult is an option.
Take time to think, which is a source of strength.
Take time to play, that's the secret of youth.
Take the time to read, that foundation of wisdom.
Take the time to make friends, that is the road to happiness.
Take time to dream, that's what brought you to the stars.
Take time to love and be loved, that privilege God.
Take time to look around you, today you are too short to be selfish.
Take time to laugh, that soul music.
Enjoy Your live and you wil never old
